An introduction to some East London businesses that also work in the world of weddings.
The wedding business can be pretty competitive, However, in my neck of the woods there is a brilliant community of supportive and talented wedding suppliers. Sometimes we are able work together with couples that also live east side, which we all love.
Here are some of the suppliers I have either worked with, or would very much like to, as I think they are pretty special. Each supplier has also provided a bit of inside info, and a top tip for their field, which is priceless advice!
Devine Bride - Wedding planner - Bespoke services, flexible help, pick + mix planning!
Devine Bride is run by Laura Devine – hi! I’m a wedding planner based in East London and run a multi award winning blog as the backbone to my website offering planning tips and advice.
My tag line is ‘pick + mix wedding planning’; couples can pick and choose which elements they need help with, and we’ll take it from there.Â
I have personally planned and worked on some 170+ weddings and events to date, and I know what’s worked, what’s not, and what’s fun! It’s a celebration after all!
From planning power hours to partial planning, help on the day to hire a bridesmaid, and everything in between! I’ve planned and styled a goth wedding in an industrial metal works warehouse but also an ex fashion editor’s pretty Chiswick marquee wedding too. I’ve planned a wedding at the Love Actually church followed by the most elegant Christmas reception, but also many a warehouse party wedding. My speciality is difficult dry hire venues. Whatever your concept or budget, I strive to make it happen, with the best trusted suppliers on board.Â
I tend to help couples who know what they want and what they are doing, who are generally quite creative and non-traditional, but just need a hand to bring their vision to life, hone in on the finer details of the planning, and make it all happen on the day.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail….! Slightly dramatic, sorry! But…..! You’ve spent so much time and money planning your wedding, get a wedding coordinator, even just for on the day (hello!), so you can sit back and relax and they can do all the preparing for you!

Choosing the wedding dress of your dreamsÂ
Book your venue first, this can really make a difference to choosing your dress style .
Do your research-don’t go to a shop that doesn’t have dresses you like or bad customer service, check out online reviews or get recommendations from friends or family.
When you make an appointment wear nude underwear- big pants are best!
Keep an open mind and it when your consultant says that a dress looks better on than on the hanger.
Ultimately stay true to your style, the dress you should choose is the one that makes you feel the most beautiful!Â
Bates and Bates - Photography
We are Meghan and Andy: a husband and wife duo capturing love stories across the country. Our style is influenced by our passion for film, fashion, landscape, documentary photography, and each other of course! A combination which helps us create memorable images for every couple. We truly believe every wedding and every relationship is unique and are always surprised with the amazing ideas couples can dream up. We love to find out the essence of each pair and aim to capture the raw and real moments throughout their special day. We want to document your day and capsule all the special parts that make it unique, that make it you.
Meghan and Andy’s top tip
When you are looking for your photography get to know them meet them if you are able to. Your relationship with your photographer is so important. They are going to be with you the whole day, so you want to make sure you like them and you think your family and friends will like them. Your experience with your photographer will also make you love your images even more. When you look back at what your photographer has captured, we want you to think this really was the best day and meghan and Andy made it so fun... not oh gawd they would never leave us a lone and where so awkward. So find someone’s work you like then find that click. Pick your photographer like you where picking a new friend cause you never know they might just become one.
Confetti and Silk - Wedding Films
Confetti & Silk is a multi-award winning team of two, Stu & Dan, who complement each other brilliantly when making wedding films, we’re also good friends. We’ve been going since 2014 but have roots in filming weddings as far back as 2009. Our style is loosely classed as cine-doc as we shoot very cinematically from a technical aspect but also take a documentary approach to a wedding day and don’t manipulate or force any situation for the sake of the filming. Our ultimate goal is that half of your wedding guests don’t even know you had the day filmed until they see the finished pieceWe work with modern stylish couples primarily shooting in London and the Home counties but travel all over the UK and Europe.
Stu and Dan’s top tip
To trust your videographers vision for the day. They will get better quality footage if they are allowed to film with complete unrestricted freedom. A videographer does not work from a pre determined shot list the way a photographer may have to at some points during the day and their interaction with you will be slightly less. You may not see them for large parts during the day fi they are skilled at blending into the background, do not worry about this as it’s all part of the process, just carry on having a great day yourself!
Studio Sophie - Stationary
Studio Sophie is the E7 home to stationery designer and illustrator Sophie Harpley. She has a collection of customisable invitation designs to choose from and also offers a bespoke design service for all the wedding stationery your heart desires. Sophie's original illustrations bring a modern yet artistic touch to everything she makes. She is inspired by flowers, colour and 20th century artists like Matise.

My tip is to send out save the dates as soon as you’ve booked a venue. These can be a simple postcard and the only information you need to give is the date and location. That’ll keep guests happy for months before you’re ready to send a more detailed invite with times, accommodation or catering information. The most organised guests will be able to book accommodation and the fashion forward will be able to start outfit planning with the season and venue in mind. These days it’s such a nice surprise to receive anyth pretty in the post, especially that you can pin up and keep. Emails also get lost much more easily too. So it’s worth the little extra effort to set a special tone for your big day.Â
Dolecka Bridal - Hair accessoriesÂ

Becca and Chesca’s top tip
Be bold with your accessories, you're only going to do this once, so why not wear a spectacular headpiece. It will look amazing in the photos!
Emily Eats - CateringÂ
Emily Eats is an events and catering company that provides bold and fun food to match any occasion. Founded by Emily, the business started life as a blog, but quickly grew from her 1 bedroom flat to catering for events for over 300 people. We love creating fun bespoke menus for our couples, really bringing your big day to life. Whether you have a theme or simply want to recreate 'that' meal you had on your first holiday together we love telling those stories through plates of colourful and seasonal food.Â
Emily’s top tip
There is nothing more special than sitting down for a meal with all your nearest and dearest, so make it memorable. Unique touches and fun extras really do go a long way. We recently made a Yorkshire Pudding Station as the evening food for a couple celebrating their Yorkshire roots; another was American themed canapes with matching small serves of famous US drinks such as Coke floats for a couple that have travelled the breadth of the USA.
Oh and of course I can take care of your florals for you!
